Cooler weather is coming our way….how about curling up on the couch with a blanket, the beverage of  your choice, and a good detective novel from the Freading site !

“Valentinto: Film Detective” by Loren Estleman is a intriguing collection of stories about a UCLA film archivist whose job it is to find lost movies. His work often sends him to remote locations and occasionally he discovers that not everyone wants these works to be found ! The author of this book has won 4 Shamuses from the Private Eye Writers of America for his detective novels, and 13 other major awards.

“The Night Detectives: A David Mapstone Mystery” by John Talton “….is thoroughly satisfying” says Publishers Weekly. Booklist  states “Mapstone’s seventh outing (after South Phoenix Rules, 2010) features tight prose and plotting and a pair of complex and fallible protagonists whose character development continues in a series that just keeps getting better."

This year marks the bicentennial of the first publication of “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.  You can read about Jane Austen’s life and unfortunate death in “The Mysterious Death of Miss Jane Austen” by Lindsay Ashford.  Critics give it rave reviews…
”This solid historical puzzle will appeal even to readers with only passing familiarity with Austen's works." – Publishers Weekly
"No zombies and none of the twee twaddle that characterizes too many Austen pastiches. Rather, this is a lively Regency romance about murder, serial adulteries, and other pastimes of your typical extended family…”- Library Journal
