When NYU student Leanne Brown was pursuing her graduate degree, she began to notice how many processed foods people around her ate. She decided to find out if it is possible to eat healthy, fresh foods while on the Federal Government assistance program that used to be referred to as Food Stamps. Her intention, per her disclosure in the book, is to create a resource for those on the program or on any budget. The result of her research is this amazing book full of tips on saving money at the grocery store, which foods are best to buy in bulk, and tons of healthy recipes with many ingredients you probably already have. As food prices are always on the rise, this is an outstanding resource. Download it to your phone from the library website and take it with you while food shopping. You will be amazed.
“As much a recipe book (Brown’s) book is an idea book”
“ …genius..It contains healthy but tasty-sounding recipes, presented in a warm, you-can-do this tone.”
“striking…thank you to Leanne Brown”- Food & Wine
